Meet the “Candle Lady”
I have always been a crafty person and I’ve tried it all from knitting to jewelry making, sewing, wood burning, soap making, cross stitch; the list goes on and on. So how did I settle on candles as my passion? Like most things, it started by scrolling through YouTube when I stumbled on a candle pouring video. I was mesmerized and quickly went down a rabbit hole, consuming as much information as I could find. Sure, I had made my own candles as a teenager using an inexpensive crafting kit and who knows what kind of wax. As you could expect, those candles never burned quite right.
Through my deep dive into the world of candle making, I discovered that this was serious business that involved math and formulas! With my newfound knowledge, I decided to dive in and purchase some supplies. After lots of testing and frustration, I finally found the right size wick for the right diameter container that worked with soy wax and fragrance oils to actually produce a scent…like I said, MATH! Once that was accomplished, I started passing candles out to friends and family and the response was amazing! They encouraged me to start selling my products and I began to participate in the Mendota Farmers Market along with a few other local events.
It was around this time that the hospital, where I worked for over 20 years as a Radiologic Technologist, unexpectedly closed. Suddenly, I was forced to make a decision about my career and my future. That’s when I made the leap to turn my hobby into a full-time job! Now, I am so proud to be your “Candle Lady” and I’m so grateful to all of my wonderfully supportive customers and new friends.
Your Candle Lady,
Vicki
